I actually printed those out, bought a pack of Crayolas, and relived my childhood today at work.

In other news, Viva Laughlin was cancelled after only two episodes being shown, a cold front came through and we went from 93 during the day to 54, and Mike and I carved pumpkins.

He chose a ridiculously difficult stencil of Darth Vader. I chose a somewhat more simple Tigger. I say somewhat more simple because the printer wouldn't work, so Mike and I had to freehand the pictures from the computer onto the pumpkins.

They both look fantastic though, despite Mike mixing up his negative and positive spaces in one area and part of my Tigger's face breaking off. We lit them and Mike remarked, "It's good that pumpkin is such a forgiving medium."

I'll post pictures soon--of the pumpkins, and Kimberly.

The only pumpkins I've carved have all looked like the ones in the above pictures of Winnie the Pooh. Simple triangular faces. :)) Last year I found a pumpkin-carving community on LJ and marvelled at the really complex pumpkins some people do. The Darth Vader stencil? Those guys could probably do it in their sleep. I saw carvings like PHOTOS of Johnny Depp, and just, HOW IS IT POSSIBLE... Maybe the pumpkins we buy over here have extra thick skins. :| Or maybe I'm using the wrong tools, who knows. Either way, I'm impressed!

Mike actually had a motorized pumpkin carver he got on sale with the pumpkins, so it was a lot easier than trying to carve it with a knife.

I used to always do the triangular faces. This is the first year I've tried anything more adventurous. :)

AND I'VE SEEN SOME OF THOSE. So amazing.

And hey! I have a question for you. Is it really hard to find pumpkins in Europe? I have a real reason for this. :|

Getting back rather belatedly to your question, nope, it's not that hard to find pumpkins in the UK. I'm not sure about the rest of Europe, but I imagine it's much the same. I don't see them all year round, but they're definitely available come Halloween.

So, why did you want to know?

ajfklsa. This is weird, but I was reading up on the history of jack'o'lanterns, yeah? And there's this thing about how the Irish originally used turnips and carved them to put embers inside, but when they came to the New World they found pumpkins were more plentiful (and, personally I think probably a lot easier to carve), and so they used those.

I was just curious if it was still like that, if maybe the climate was too different to grow them or something.

My mum used to carve potatoes and turnips for Halloween when she was little. It sounds really fiddly to me. :))

They might grow better over in America? I don't know. :-?

I get to color with 2-year-olds every Sunday night. It's such great fun. :D

I'm sorry. :( I did finish uploading the first ep for you though. I'll email it to you.

I can't wait to see the pictures of the pumpkins and the baby. :)

asklfjaf. It's like stress relief for me. I love coloring. One day I am going to buy a Charlie Brown or a Garfield or a Winnie the Pooh coloring book and just carry it around with me.

ONE DAY.

I know. I love coloring. I color while the 2-year-olds color and I'm still coloring while they have snack. Granted that's partly because they just scribble in one area of the paper and say they're done, but you know...

I have Disney Princess coloring books. We need to get together, watch Old School CSI and color. It sounds like the perfect weekend to me. :D

I'm midway through downloading the second Viva! for you. I'll get it to you as soon as I can.
